The intent of Lotario is to valorize the Abruzzo region territory with its extraordinary products. Lotario is presenting for the first time to the American public the best products available from the undiscovered Abruzzo region, offering the highest quality extra virgin olive oil, handcrafted extra virgin olive oil soap and artistic containers hand made and hand painted from the best majolica ceramist from the town of Castelli. D'intino Extra Virgin Olive Oil, one of the finest extra virgin olive oils on the market, twice awarded with first prize at the competition of Ercole Olivario, and Lotario Extra Virgin Olive Oil are two specifically selected products for the North American market. From the regional tradition of soap making, Lotario is also presenting many different handcrafted olive oil soaps following the ancient, natural recipes. The combination of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and other natural ingredients like thermal mud, honey, goat milk and grape are specially formulated to deliver the very best in skin care. To complete its mission, the Lotario collection is completed by the most precious majolica olive oil bottles, dishes, and soap containers, hand made and hand painted.
The brand name Lotario is derived from Lothar I, king of Italy from 818 A.C. to 855 A.C. and nephew of Charlemagne who owned the castle where on its ruins the town of Lotaresco, later named Notaresco, was built. Notaresco is a small, hilly agricultural town in the center of the Vomano Valley. It is part of the wine and olive oil road known as Colline del Ducato that winds its way through the hilly territories of the province of Teramo, once part of the duchy of Acquaviva of Atri. Today these lands boast a blooming grape and olive growing activity that has resulted in two DOCs, one DOCG, and one DOP. Notaresco, located a few miles from the Adriatic Sea, is where Mr. Andrea Zarattini, owner of Italianissimo, has a century old olive farm.
